The 2026 Toyota Camry comes in six different configurations, all available at Vimont Toyota Laval. Among them, two are often cross-shopped: the SE Upgrade AWD trim and the Nightshade edition. These two versions share the same powertrain, the same transmission, and an almost identical equipment list. The difference essentially comes down to one factor: appearance. Here is how they compare in detail.
Both variants are built on the same foundation. They both feature the fifth-generation Toyota Hybrid System, pairing a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with two electric motors for a total output of 232 horsepower in the All-Wheel Drive (AWD) configuration. This Electronic On-Demand AWD system uses an independent rear electric motor that activates based on driving conditions, without a permanent mechanical link between the axles.
Inside, the two versions share the same cabin. Standard features include:
Heated front seats in Softex material.
8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support.
Heated leather-wrapped steering wheel.
Dual-zone automatic climate control.
Auto-dimming rearview mirror.
7-inch digital gauge cluster.
Regarding connectivity, both are equipped with the Toyota Multimedia system featuring an 8-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, five USB ports, a Qi wireless charger, and Toyota’s connected services (Service Connect and Remote Connect). Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and Safe Exit Assist are standard, as are eight airbags and the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 suite.
The SE Upgrade AWD trim also includes a power slide/tilt moonroof, 18-inch alloy wheels, a garage door opener, and an enhanced Smart Key system—all of which are carried over entirely to the Nightshade version.
The Nightshade variant is built upon the SE Upgrade AWD trim and adds an exclusive black aesthetic treatment. The standard additions include:
19-inch black alloy wheels.
Black door handles and mirror caps.
Black mesh grille and rear spoiler.
Black rear diffuser and side rockers.
Gloss black badging for the model, trim, and emblems.
The Nightshade trim is available in three exterior colors: White, Supersonic Red, and Midnight Black Metallic. The latter choice gives the Nightshade its most striking look, as the black elements blend into the body color for a bold, monochromatic effect.
Beyond these visual elements, no additional mechanical, technological, or safety equipment is added to the Nightshade compared to the SE Upgrade AWD.

The price difference between the two is $1,127 (MSRP). For this gap, the Nightshade offers a complete black-out aesthetic package and larger wheels, but no functional additions. It does not include more safety equipment, a more advanced multimedia system, or higher-quality seating.
The choice, therefore, comes down entirely to style preference. If the sporty, assertive look of the black-out treatment is what you are looking for, the Nightshade easily justifies the difference. If you prefer a more classic style or want a color beyond the three offered for the Nightshade, the SE Upgrade AWD gives you the exact same Camry with a broader palette.
In either case, you get the same hybrid engine, the same AWD system, the same interior, and the same fuel efficiency—a significant factor when dealing with winters in Laval.
