The 2023 Toyota GR Corolla was a sensation when it was introduced earlier this year. This is a brand new high-performance hatchback version of the popular Toyota Corolla that delivers outstanding performance thanks to the technology and engineering of the Toyota GAZOO Racing team.
The Toyota GAZOO Racing team gave us some of the most remarkable vehicles ever produced, such as the Supra A80 and the Lexus LFA. Today, the Toyota GAZOO Racing team offers us a small, lightweight, high-performance hatchback car with an impressive mix of power, AWD efficiency and style.
A powerful three-cylinder turbo engine
The 2023 Toyota GR Corolla is powered by an all-new 1.6-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine that delivers an amazing 300 hp and 273 lb-pi. This engine is combined with a six-speed manual transmission that will make all purists smile. It has a short stroke and a unique clutch that ensures optimal torque distribution across the entire speed range. The GR Corolla will reach 100 km/h in less than five seconds.
The Corolla GR is connected to the road by the impressive GR-FOUR all-wheel drive system, a brand new all-wheel drive technology designed by Toyota and its racing division. This all-wheel drive system has been perfected by drivers of the World Rally Championship and the Toyota GAZOO Racing World Rally Team. It is designed to ensure optimal stability in all situations, and it offers impressive customization options.
Pilots will have the opportunity to change the torque distribution from 60/40 to 50/50 or 30/70 depending on the weather and the current situation.
There will be three versions of the 2023 Toyota Corolla GR, the base model starting at $45,490. This model is equipped as standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wireless systems, heated front seats, a Torsen limited slip differential on the front and rear, the all-new Toyota infotainment system housed in an 8-inch screen and 18-inch black wheels.
Two other limited edition models will be available, including the Circuit edition and the MORIZO edition, which bears the race name of Toyota President Akio Toyoda. Both models have a unique design that includes a sculpted hood with built-in vents, a carbon fibre roof, a rear spoiler and unique interior touches such as suede or leather. The MORIZO model also features a more powerful engine that delivers 295 pound-feet of torque and no rear seats to focus on track performance and reduce weight as much as possible.
