Toyota presents the new 2019 RAV4 in New York

Toyota presents the new 2019 RAV4 in New York

One of the most anticipated models of the 2018 New York International Auto Show, the 2019 Toyota RAV4 was unveiled this week at the Jacob Javits center in the center of the Big Apple. More spacious, more efficient, offering a version intended for off-road driving and globally improved at every level, the new 2019 Toyota RAV4 should have no trouble keeping its title of the best-selling SUV in its class.

New, more powerful and fuel-efficient engine for the 2019 Toyota RAV4

The 2019 Toyota RAV4 will be built on Toyota's new TNGA platform. The latter provides better performance in addition to improving safety and comfort. In addition to offering this new platform, the Toyota RAV4 will also be equipped with a new all-wheel drive system in its Trail version.

The latter is the model that we choose when we want to venture off the beaten path. The all-wheel drive system found in the RAV4 Trail will be able to send up to 50% of the torque to the rear wheels when needed in addition to being able to switch off to save fuel. It will also offer different driving modes to provide optimal performance in sand, snow, mud or rocks, among others.

The 2019 Toyota RAV4 will be powered by a 2.5-liter Dynamic Force four-cylinder engine whose power is not yet known. That said, in the 2018 Toyota Camry, this engine offers 203 horsepower, more than any other car in the segment while being more fuel efficient than most other vehicles in its class as well

The 2019 Toyota RAV4 will also be much more spacious and will again offer a hybrid version.

And even better Toyota Safety Sense system for the 2019 Toyota RAV4

The new RAV4 will also have the next generation Toyota Safety Sense system that will be standard. This system features:

  • Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection (PCS w/PD):
  • Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC):
  • Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA w/SA):
  • Automatic High Beam (AHB):
  • (NEW) Lane Tracing Assist (LTA):

For highways/freeways only and can only work when using DRCC – Capability to recognize white or yellow lane markings or the path of a preceding vehicle if lane markers are temporarily not available; to identify and actively track the center of the lane by providing steering assistance to the driver (hands-on, driver-assist system). Reduces driver burden and supports safe driving, especially in traffic congestion or long highway trips. The LTA system can be turned on/off.
