The year 2026 will mark a major milestone for Toyota, as it will see the launch of the next generation of the RAV4 SUV — the brand’s most popular and best-selling model.
This sixth-generation RAV4 arrives more complete and appealing than ever before. Fully redesigned, it sports a brand-new look, cutting-edge onboard technology, and an all-electrified lineup featuring hybrid (HEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains.
We’ll have plenty of opportunities to dive deeper into the 2026 RAV4 in the coming months, but for this first look, here’s an overview of what’s in store.
Three Distinct Design Directions
The 2026 RAV4 will showcase three main design styles: Base, Rugged, and Sport — including, for the first time in North America, a GR Sport model developed in collaboration with Toyota Gazoo Racing.
Design-wise, every version of the 2026 RAV4 will feature a shark-inspired front end. The Base style offers a refined look, with wheel sizes ranging from 17 to 20 inches, depending on the trim level (LE, XLE, Limited). The Rugged version, represented by the Woodland model, is aimed at off-road enthusiasts, with all-terrain tires, Rigid-brand LED headlights, increased ground clearance, and practical features like roof rails and a rear-mounted rack. This variant will be available exclusively as a hybrid.
The RAV4 GR Sport, meanwhile, will take on the sportiest character in the lineup, with three trims (SE, XSE, and GR Sport). It will feature GR-tuned suspension, sportier steering, exclusive 20-inch wheels, and a stiffer chassis for a more engaging drive. This model will come only as a plug-in hybrid — the most powerful in the range, boasting a combined output of 320 horsepower, which is 18 more than the current RAV4 PHEV. Its all-electric range will also increase from 68 km to 80 km.
Standard All-Wheel Drive
All hybrid and plug-in hybrid models will come standard with all-wheel drive in Canada. The conventional hybrid powertrain will now deliver 236 horsepower, up from 219, while PHEV models will get a larger-capacity battery and enhanced continuous fast-charging capability — especially in the XSE trim equipped with the Technology package.
Inside the Cabin
The interior is completely redesigned as well, featuring a 10.5- or 12.9-inch touchscreen (depending on the trim), a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a multimedia system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with wireless connectivity, of course. Select models will also offer a head-up display and a nine-speaker JBL premium sound system.
Notably, the 2026 RAV4 will be Toyota’s first vehicle to integrate the new Arene software platform, paving the way for software-defined vehicles. The updated multimedia system and Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 suite will further enhance safety and connectivity.
The 2026 RAV4 is clearly set to redefine the standards in its segment.
Stay tuned — we’ll be back over the coming months with more details about the upcoming RAV4 lineup.
