Toyota is expanding its electric lineup this year with two distinct models for 2026: the bZ, which benefits from significant upgrades, and the all-new C-HR. For Laval residents looking for their first electric vehicle, understanding the differences between the two is essential to making the right choice.
The C-HR adopts a coupe-like silhouette and largely retains the dimensions of the previous gasoline model with a length of 4,520 mm, a width of 1,870 mm, and a height of 1,595 mm. Its 2,750 mm wheelbase results in a spacious cabin. This format is perfect for finding a parking spot at Carrefour Laval.
Meanwhile, the bZ offers more generous dimensions. Its e-TNGA platform maximizes interior space with a flat floor. Cargo volume exceeds 850 liters in the Woodland version with the second-row seats in place.
The C-HR offers two configurations. The front-wheel-drive (FWD) SE variant develops 221 horsepower, while the all-wheel-drive (AWD) XSE trim delivers 338 horsepower, achieving 0–100 km/h in 5.2 seconds.
The front-wheel-drive bZ XLE generates 168 horsepower. The all-wheel-drive versions jump to 338 horsepower with 0–100 km/h acceleration in 5.1 seconds. The Woodland edition pushes performance to 375 horsepower with the X-Mode system.
The FWD C-HR SE offers up to 500 kilometers of range with its 77 kWh battery. The XSE AWD version provides 465 kilometers of freedom.
The FWD bZ XLE uses a 57.7 kWh battery for 378 kilometers. AWD versions equipped with the 77 kWh battery reach 460 kilometers (XLE AWD) and 430 kilometers (Limited AWD).
Both models feature a NACS (North American Charging Standard) port, providing access to the Tesla Supercharger network. DC fast charging allows the battery to go from 10% to 80% in 30 minutes. Both include an 11 kW onboard charger.
The C-HR prioritizes style, offering 720 liters of space behind the folding seats. The interior features two wireless chargers in the front, USB-C ports in the rear, and a 14-inch multimedia screen.
The bZ model maximizes practicality with superior cargo volume. The Woodland variant adds 140 mm in length and 20 mm in height at the rear, pushing capacity beyond 850 liters. Roof rails and a towing capacity of 1,588 kg (3,500 lbs) further expand its capabilities.
Both models share a 14-inch touchscreen compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The digital instrument cluster is customizable to driver preferences, and 64-color ambient lighting creates a distinctive atmosphere.
The Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 suite comes standard on both vehicles, featuring a pre-collision system with pedestrian and cyclist detection, dynamic radar cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and proactive driving assist.
The Toyota bZ Woodland stands out with X-MODE and Grip-Control systems. A ground clearance of 210 mm and all-season tires make it easier to navigate through heavy snowfalls.
The C-HR takes a more urban approach. Its low center of gravity provides great stability on slippery roads. The XSE version's AWD system improves traction without claiming the off-road capabilities of the bZ Woodland.
| Model | Power | Range | Battery | Key Feature |

| bZ Woodland | 375 hp | 418 km | 77 kWh | 1,588 kg Towing / 210 mm Clearance |
The C-HR is ideal for urban drivers who prioritize style, agility, and maximum range. Its compact size makes parking on Boulevard des Laurentides a breeze. It is a perfect fit for couples and small families.
The bZ is designed for families seeking more versatility. Its towing capacity, superior volume, and multiple configurations meet a wide range of needs. The Woodland version will appeal to those who combine daily commuting with weekend winter adventures.
